Another Beginning

Only 3 days has passed since the week has started and I have already begun to develop a mild case of amnesia. I shall try to recollect every significant event. However, I'm in no way saying that the others are not highlights of my days either.

Sunday: Started the season/month with an afternoon of blading @ Riverside w Matt/Marcy/J (bike). I almost forgot how to blade but I'm glad there were no accidents. My wheels are terribly slow. They ended up giving me a "5 min" head start on our return trip and it seemed like they took no time in catching up! Well, i still can't stop very well...but next to tackle: Rideau River/Canal Pathway.

Strolled to Loblaws to buy some food for BBQ at Howiez, but they didn't end up eating any of the bread. Ah wellz, it was "see-lai"ish cheap anyhow: 12 for $1.99 and Matt ended up taking a blueberry cheesecake home :). Hilman graciously spent most of his time warming in front of the BBQ grill...and in the process, cooked our food ;P. Many of the ppl at Howiez already spent the afternoon playing football and so all they ended up doing was veg on the couch to watch the b-ball game on TV (sigh, where's the fellowship? tho this thought must be from a girlz pt of view..). I was extremely bored and was about to leave when luckily, a group of people were interested in playing Taboo :). 'Twas fun and Lil tied the game by getting beeped last.

Monday: er, met up w Marc at Carleton--walked around d/t and into the Contemporary Museum of Photography (no wonder it's free admission), and ate at Coaster's (on top of Fish Market in Byward Market) for all-you-can-eat mussels at $8.99 (everyday). There's also all-you-can-eat lobster @ $24.95, but through the course of my meal, I heard 2 complaints from 2 diff tables that the lobster was overcooked. However, the mussels are only seasoned one way, instead of at Crèpes de France, which is now $12.95 (Tues) for choice of 3 different seasonings. 'Twas very filling. I had close to 4 plates of mussels...I think I'm getting fat or will soon... =|

Tuesday: Woken up by a phone call at 9:00 am. The Ministry of Labour was calling to offer me a position. I had mixed feelings so I ended up asking if I could think it over b/c I was still waiting on news from TO (tho that one I can stay in Ottawa ;P). They only gave me til the end of the work day to reply, so bascially, I couldn't reach the person in TO in time, so I'm praying that the other one will wrk out as well w flex hrs (in TO) so that I can expand in my experience with HTML/CSS. Although this Ottawa job will be the most humbling experience in my entire career history and my high school years (b/c of the salary: minimum wage at $6.85! Even B.C.'s min wage is $7.50 now!), I think the experience in the government will really be valuable and this sounds like a fun job b/c we'll be able to interact with many people in the workforce (public sector) and we get to drive the Ministry car :P. Pray that we'll all be safe when the team members are driving :). I guess this job is an answer from God. I didn't really pray that I'd get this job, but rather I left it up to God (b/c secretly, I didn't really know what to think of it--the min wage factor is really discouragin'). Now that I have it, I think it's neat that this job works out perfectly with my vacation schedule. I'm scheduled to fly home in about 10 weeks and my job ends around then as well :).

What I don't understand is WHY I have so many potentially "better" job offers (salary wise, and related-to-field-wise) lined up now that I have a job? The one in TO I'm really praying to get, and today before I called to accept the job offer w the gov't (after applying to another online application yesterday), I suddenly receive a call for an interview for a database job (IT: $12/hr), which I did not expect to receive a call from at all. However, the guy told me today that it is 10 wks in length--but it's starting earliest on Jun 17th, which is 1 wk too late for me (b/c of my flight plans). At that time, I was in a mall (ended up there for 6 hrs :{ and left empty-handed but I didn't intend to shop in the first place; ended up at Sunglass Hut chattin' w Jon and tryin' out a billion shades) so I didn't really think about my schedule--I gotta remember to call tomolo to cancel my interview fer next week.

Because Marc bought 2 DVD's at HMV, we went home to watch The Corrupter. Tho' I didn't get who the corrupter was...Chow Yun Fat? At least the Chinese in this one is way better than The Art of War...This is my last week of having all the free time in the world to do anything before wrk begins. I hope I don't waste it :P
